Freight in Motion: K-tainer Looks Ahead at Joint Corridor Off-Road
Published on 7 October 2025

K-tainer present at the Joint Corridor Off-Road event, organized by Topsector Logistiek and supported by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management. The theme of the day: how to keep Dutch freight transport moving—smarter, more sustainably, and less dependent on trucks.
Multimodal transport: road, water, and rail
During the event, multimodal transport was central. The smart combination of road, water, and rail makes transport not only more efficient but also much more sustainable. Although first- and last-mile transport often causes the most emissions, inland shipping with large volumes of containers proves to be relatively efficient.
The discussion on congestion in the Port of Rotterdam showed that conscious choices and collaboration are essential. While Rotterdam frequently experiences bottlenecks, Utrecht performs better, demonstrating that a flexible and continuous system is necessary to handle peak periods and optimize transport flows.
Keynote: Ahold Delhaize shows what scale can achieve
One of the keynotes came from Pieter Meints of Ahold Delhaize. He spoke about the logistics platform ADIL, which, among other things, manages the supply of all wine for Albert Heijn and Gall & Gall.
With activities in 41 countries and over 650 suppliers, Ahold Delhaize shows what scale, data, and collaboration mean in modern logistics. An interesting detail: even TikTok and influencers influence demand; one viral video can suddenly empty the shelves. This underlines how important flexibility, predictability, and speed are within the supply chain.
Innovation and collaboration in the Port of Rotterdam
Jurjen Lengkeek from RDM Next spoke about the 4th industrial revolution, where physical and digital processes are increasingly merging. The former shipyard is now a breeding ground for innovation, where startups and technology companies collaborate on the future of the port.
The event emphasized that continuing as in the past is not an option. Collaboration, data sharing, and a flexible system are necessary to handle peak periods and optimize transport flows.
K-tainer fits perfectly
With our one-way container solutions and sustainable container usage, K-tainer has been contributing for years to a flexible and environmentally friendly logistics system. Our approach fits perfectly within the philosophy of Joint Corridor Off-Road: smarter planning, avoiding waste, and optimizing transport flows. It’s no coincidence that we hold a Lean & Green star, demonstrating that sustainability and efficiency go hand in hand with us.
